Tonka
toys and trucks help little hands build big projects in sand
boxes all over the world
Children
that have spent time in a sand box anytime over the past forty
or fifty years has very likely played with Tonka toys and
trucks. They are tough toys and can withstand years of dream
building and imagination moving. Tonka toys and trucks are
authentic reproductions of actual vehicles. Most models are
small versions of work trucks and other construction vehicles.
You may find a crane or a backhoe. There are trucks of all
sizes and suited for any job your child can dream up. The
first two trucks the company produced in 1947 were a steam
shovel and a crane. They won immediate acceptance in the
market place and the tiny little garden supply company that
produced them turned out thirty seven thousand in the first
year.
The
main goal of the company when producing Tonka toys and trucks
is to provide a durable, inexpensive and fun toy. Today, the
Tonka brand has grown from just two truck styles into a line
of more than 30 trucks, vehicles and toy play sets. Each year
the Tonka brand uses more than 119,000 pounds of yellow paint
and 5.1 million pounds of sheet metal to make its trucks and
vehicles.
Tonka
toys and trucks make a wonder gift for a child and they are
almost guaranteed to amuse your child for hours. They are
meant to be played with outdoors in the sand and the dirt but
even indoors they can be fun for a child. Tonka was inducted
into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 2000. The Hall of Fame
recognizes toys that have played a vital role in the lives of
children, and have inspired and helped kids learn. Tonka joins
other Hasbro classics such as Mr. Potato Head, Monopoly and
Play-Doh.
