Baby picture: You have the cutest baby so take the cutest picture

Taking a baby picture is not that difficult if you remember the importance of light. Or, choosing the right time of day for your baby picture can make all the more fun. We'll discuss this more below.

Choose a time of day that the baby is most happy and alert when you're planning a baby picture.  An evening appointment may work better for your baby than the morning.  You may want to ask if home appointments are available, which may be easier for both parents and child. Plan to arrive a few minutes early, but not too early to avoid feeling rushed and to allow baby time to adjust to the new environment.

Keep a loaded camera on hand for those precious, candid shots, but also plan a shoot with props and costumes.  Make it fun for your baby and enjoy yourself.  Taking a baby picture can be a special time for both parent and child and the best ideas usually come up when you don't have a camera with you.

Red-eye results when bright light is reflected back onto the film from the blood-rich back of the eyeball - the retina. To see this on your film, you need three things: First, is a bright light source. The culprit in most of your pictures is the little flash on your camera. Second, you need the subject's pupils to be wide open so that the camera can see the retina. Third, you need an angle where the reflection of the light comes back directly into the lens. Eliminate these situations and you will eliminate red eye from your baby picture.

And finally don't use the flash on your camera so often; try taking some pictures near natural light sources such as windows, doors, porch, and open garage. These natural lights can be soft and warm and bring an emotional quality to your pictures. Try a picture of your baby with a warm background, using the light source of an open window at mid-day. Let the light shine on your baby from the side or behind you so you can bring out the best of your baby's features and have a baby picture that you will cherish for life.
