Baby shower: Plan the best baby shower

A baby shower is a wonderful event to attend. They are usually full of love and joy and you get to look at lots of cute baby clothes. But who should give the baby shower and when should you plan it? We'll discuss this more below.

The most common practice was for a close friend to give a baby shower.  These days it is perfectly acceptable for someone in the family to give the shower.  Often a couple that are close to the mommy and daddy to be, will give it.  The mommy and daddy to be should not be the ones to give their own baby shower.

Most showers are given in the later stages of pregnancy, usually the last two months.

Some parents/shower givers may want to know the gender before their showers. Others may feel more comfortable if the baby shower is after the baby's arrival, either for cultural or other reasons. Talk to the parents about what they prefer.

It has been traditional that a baby shower was held only for the first baby but more and more there are showers for every baby. Since the whole idea is to help the expectant parents "gear" up for the new baby, especially consider another shower for an additional baby in the house if: this baby is a different gender than the first, the older baby is well grown and the parents may have given away all their baby gear.
