For a
handmade baby gift idea, a simple doll or animal made out of
scraps is a nice addition to a baby gift, or a couple of them
could be the entire gift. Just be careful not to attach
anything a baby might pull or chew off!
For those who can sew, try a Baby blanket--receiving
size or longer for child to grow into; washable quilt (have
friends or relatives embroider or paint their names on the
squares); crochet shell border around receiving blanket; sew
two pieces of flannel together (with or without batting) and
crochet shell border around them; bind 45" square of
two-sided quilted material with wide bias tape.
If
you really want a handmade baby gift that is different, these
steps will show you how to make a special gift that is sure to
be treasured by the mother of a new baby. First, purchase a
small photo safe scrap-booking album. Decorate each of the
pages that comes with the album with a variety of baby
stickers, die-cuts, and gingham print photo mounting paper
leaving room on each page for 1-2 pictures. Create a Title
Page for the album, being specific with the child's name and
birth date if known, leaving the details blank for an
expecting mother. Purchase a set of page protectors to go with
the album. Also, purchase several "extras" for
decorating the album, for example: more stickers, die-cuts,
pens, colored paper, and blue and/or pink alphabet and number
stickers. Package the album and supplies creatively, possibly
including a couple rolls of film.
